FirstRand Oxford African Studies scholarship to the University of Oxford

FirstRand has entered into a new partnership, for another five years, with the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies to allow an outstanding South African student to study for an MSc in African Studies at one of the world’s foremost universities, the University of Oxford.

The scholarship will provide full funding for one student a year to study for an MSc at the School of Global and Area Studies at the University of Oxford. The successful candidate will be housed at Wadham College.

  • FirstRand will conduct the interviewing and selection process, which will run concurrently with the FirstRand international postgraduate scholarship programme. Candidates will be assessed based on academic excellence, leadership ability, community involvement and their potential to be a destiny changer.
  • Candidates have to apply and be accepted for an MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford.
  • Closing date for applications is Friday 20 January 2023, 12:00 UK time.
  • Applications can be submitted online only.
  • FirstRand and the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies are looking for the best applicants who will truly benefit from the opportunity and contribute to South Africa on their return.
