PURPOSE:
To plan and control all meter related maintenance functions, including income related meter assets, in order to effectively manage the meter infrastructure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and co-ordinate technical requests received from billing and ensure optimal utilisation of resources for all field work. Ensure use correct tools and resources for all meter maintenance, ensure that sufficient materials are available for the execution of work, supervise work to ensure quality of work meets agreed JW metering standards, JW meter SOP’s etc (refer to relevant SOP’s, ISO 4064, CoJ By-laws). Ensure that team productivity is maintained within agreed JW standards. Supervise and control personnel according to policies and procedures, ensure and promote good communication in the work place, monitor and evaluate staff performance according to the staff management plan, identify and report on staff training and development needs, initiate disciplinary steps against staff members in consultation with the Operations Manager. Ensure that the productivity levels and costs are kept within estimates and targets by supervising and controlling approved overtime, leave and absenteeism, supervise activities to ensure that it is within the budget provision. Ensure that all operations are carried out within statutory requirements as laid down in the OHSA, conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance to the safety procedures, complete and update safety registers, schedule and hold toolbox meetings. Liaise with contractors, other departments and utilities, liaise with customers, members of the public and Councillors on relevant issues. Liaise with suppliers for the ordering of specialised spares/materials.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Grade 12 or N3 (NQF4) + Plumbing trade test certificate/Appropriate Learnership (NQF 4)
• 4 years relevant experience in water operations including maintenance and construction of water reticulation of which 1 year must be at supervisory level.
• Valid Driver’s License Code EB
