Brief description> ASIM is the consortium of four (4) Universities (Ardhi University, Covenant University, University of Johannesburg, University of Malawi – The Polytechnic, and an EU Technical partner (Leeds Beckett University), under the European Union Commission Grant on Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme. ASIM invites suitably qualified and highly motivated applicants from Africa into its Masters and PhD degree programs as a strategy to increase the talent pool of expertise in infrastructure and to develop the capacity of African Higher Education Institution (HEI) to deliver sustainable infrastructure education.

Level/Field(s) of study> Full-time Master’s or PhD degree programs in Architecture, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Economics and Management, Construction Management, Estate Management, Infrastructure Development, Project Management, Sustainable Urban Planning and Development (MSUPD), and Urban and Regional Planning (by Research).

Target group
The current scholarships are targeted to young professional citizens and residents of the following countries: – Malawi, Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa (Target group I) and from the rest of Africa (Target group II).
Scholarship value
The ASIM Scholarship will cover university tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, an economy class return ticket, and a special additional allowances for female students.
Eligibility To be eligible for the ASIM Scholarship you must:
- Be a citizen and resident of one of the eligible countries (Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria or South Africa).
- Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a master’s programme at one of the identified
universities by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class (3.5 GPA or its equivalent) in the relevant fields of study from any recognized University in Africa.
- Have a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or its equivalent in MSc/MEng/MTech and a minimum GPA of 3.5 (second class upper) in the Bachelor’s degree to gain entry onto a PhD degree program.
- You meet the specific requirements of the institution of your choice. You can find these on the website of the institution.
- You have never before received any scholarship from the European Commission/Union.
