About the Position

SARS (South African Revenue Service) is seeking a highly skilled and self-directed individual to provide operational knowledge management services to improve organizational outcomes.

Job Purpose

To provide expertise, advice and support to develop operational implementation plans and / or associated service delivery processes, by designing, developing and implementing knowledge management initiatives, processes and required infrastructure in response to enterprise knowledge management business objectives, in order to continuously enhance service delivery, by overseeing the day-to-day implementation of knowledge management strategies and plans across SARS.

Education and Experience

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in information management / information science / knowledge management / similar qualification AND 5-7 years’ experience in an information management / knowledge management / Library / similar environment, of which 2-3 years ideally at functional specialist level.

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 10 years’ experience in information management / knowledge management / Library / similar environment.

Job Outputs:

Process

  • Provide operational knowledge management services, including advisory services, tool development, implementation plans, and content management
  • Develop processes and protocols for storing knowledge, making it accessible, controlling access and capturing new knowledge
  • Maintain organization’s knowledge bases and ensure that proper distribution processes are in place so that employees have the tools they need to succeed
  • Creating searchable resources: setting up searchable knowledge bases to improve access to information
  • Encouraging a culture of knowledge sharing: responsible for fostering a collaborative environment that focuses on expertise, training, and communication
  • Educating company employees – After designing and implementing knowledge management systems, knowledge practitioner is responsible for showing employees how to use them.
  • Collaborating with other professionals: Work with leadership to optimize information storage and distribution. She/he may also work closely with co-workers and help them find access to necessary knowledge
  • Help create more open and effective communication channels that allow important knowledge to pass between employees
  • Accelerate decision making – ensure that business leaders have the knowledge to respond rapidly and decisively when making choices for their businesses.
  • Research and recommend knowledge management tools and software products
  • Assist in business case development, identification and implementation of knowledge management products and tools
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with peers, SARS role players and third parties to achieve predefined objectives.
  • Collect and collate data, analyse information and provide reports and recommendations.
