FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATES, MASTERS, AND PHD DEGREE STUDIES IN GERMANY

Apply for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships to study in Germany

Deadline: 30 Nov 2021/31 May 2022

We open doors …

Educational equity means equal opportunities for everyone. In many cases these chances are not given. That is why we stand up for people who have limited financial opportunities or who come from families with a migration background. We want to motivate them to study or do a doctorate. At the same time, we create a framework for the further development of their socio-political engagement.

… for ambitious personalities

Personality and sociopolitical commitment are just as important to us as good performance – that’s how we define talent. We promote young talents who take responsibility and volunteer for the basic values of social democracy. We also expect good to very good performance in school and studies.

Our funding is divided into programs for Germans and foreign nationals with education. All persons to whom § 8 BAföG (nationality) applies are deemed to be educational  residents. Anyone who has come to Germany to study applies for the programs for foreigners.

You can also apply if you have already received BAföG or a Germany scholarship or are applying for one. However, as soon as you are accepted into the FES study grant, other grants must end, as double funding is not possible.

You can apply for almost any subject. Please note that, depending on the funding program, you can only apply up to a certain number of semesters. There are also deadlines for new students in their first semester and Master’s students for basic funding for Germans and foreign students with education .

Fresh from school? First-year students(only Germans and foreign students with education) in the first semester of university, please note that the acceptance of our scholarship cannot be given before the start of your studies due to the structure of the application process and the number of meetings of the selection committee. As a rule, the acceptance takes place towards the end of the first semester, in the case of early applications it may even be in the first two months of the first semester. To finance your studies, please contact the BAföG office before you start. In contrast to a scholarship, there is also a legal entitlement to BAföG benefits. In their interest, we recommend that first-year students apply when they are sure of their level of performance and their choice of subject, as a change of subject during the application phase may have a detrimental effect.

Already studying at the (technical) university? In the regular basic grant, students of almost all courses of study can apply without deadlines and without further formal requirements after receiving the first above-average performance certificates – i.e. from the second semester onwards.
