HEALTH MATTERS!

The first wealth is health - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ever started your car in the morning and it didn’t start? Ever switched on the light and it didn’t turn on? Ever expected something to work simply because it must? Simply because just yesterday it was working perfectly well, until suddenly it just doesn’t. Now imagine waking up expecting your body to work as it always has been the past 5 years or 20 years and it just cannot, imagine that.

“You reap what you sow”, cliché right? But then again do you know that by the time you reap, knowingly or unknowingly you would have put in determination or put in ignorance? Individual wellness should be a number one priority. Without it be rest assured that it is a crush landing, hence before that job, before that goal or that new relationship the vessel called you is very important. What you put in your body will eventually show, how you take care of your body determines how it will take care of you. Your body is a vessel worth more than gold itself, no amount of money can substitute the true value of being healthy. Mind, body and soul.

Articles have been written on protecting your energy, nutritional benefits of certain foods and so forth, we have so much information at our disposal which we may choose to ignore because it does not kill us, well at least instantly.  Sadly, whether we like it or not every choice has an inevitable consequence. The World Health Organization described health as a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. As a vessel called you, how has been your cholesterol and your heart rate of late, what thoughts are you feeding your mind, how are you dealing with your misfortunes and what company are you keeping? All these factors encompass the whole being that you are.

In my many motivational book escapades, I have picked up what they all seem to say, the art of simple things and invisible results. You don’t need a life changing event, it’s the simple decisions the simple actions we choose to do daily be it eating better, going for a daily run or cultivating a relationship. A simple action compounded overtime will give you a result. Here is the catch, by the time you get the feedback, the real work is already done, you see, invisible results. Read that again. Determination to stay on course is what gives you a good result.

Decide today that you will plan what you feed your body, fruits are not only for the hospital beds, grow a herb and vegetable garden. Read a good book and visit that aunt with a crazy smile and funny jokes, go to that gym, buy those flowers. Get in touch with your beliefs, what’s important to you? You can never give a hundred per cent to anything else if you are not whole. Grow yourself, wellness is a must, do not get caught up in the worlds trap to just survive but aim for healthier habits to attain a better physical and mental state. Fetch your life, if not now then how many lifetimes do you need to know that this is it?
