JOIN THE UN SECRETARY GENERAL’S YOUTH ADVISORY GROUP ON CLIMATE CHANGE EUROPEAN CONSULTATION, 28-30 JUNE 2021

Are you a young European leader involved in climate activism? Do you want to engage with your peers in a sub-regional discussion of climate change issues that are specific to the EU, the Arctic, or the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans? Then join the UN Secretary General’s Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change European Consultation on 28-30 June 2021. These virtual consultations are a unique opportunity to share the ideas of your community with the UN Secretary General’s Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change. 

The Youth Advisory Group is composed of seven young leaders from all over the world who are currently involved in an open dialogue with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres with the goal of bringing the voices of Youth to the UN table and getting policy-makers to advance and accelerate their climate ambitions in the process of implementation of the 2020-2021 UNSG Climate Strategy 🌍

How does it work?

Each day will be fully dedicated to a sub-regional virtual consultation, where sub-regional specific challenges related to climate change will be discussed. You will be able to choose which consultation(s) you wish to join and to specify your preferred topic of discussion when submitting your application: each consultation will include breakout room discussions, to ensure that enough time is dedicated to exchange ideas on how to address all challenges!

That’s not all! Following the consultations, in order to make these discussions really impactful, you will collaborate with the moderators to produce a final document summarizing your conclusions, demands, and proposals 📢

  • 28th June, 12 PM CEST: European Union Consultation
  • 29th June, 12 PM CEST: Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans Consultation
  • 30th June, 12 PM CEST: Arctic Consultation

Who can apply?

You come from a European country;

You are aged between 18 and 29;

You are involved in climate and environmental activism in your community

Why you should apply?

👉You will have the opportunity to meet and join forces with other passionate young leaders who are interested in the same geographical area and climate-related challenges

👉The conclusions papers stemming out of this process will be gathered by the European members of the Youth Advisory Group, who will further your collective demands in their dialogue with the UN Secretary-General, distribute them to EU leaders and UN agencies, and build from them when advancing their climate advocacy activities ahead of COP26

👉Each virtual session, supported by YEE, will be introduced by keynote speakers who will be available for a Q&A session 🔥

How to apply?

Fill out and submit the application form before 20 June 2021. And remember:

  • You will be able to apply for one or more sub-regional consultations and to express preferences for the topics you would like to discuss during the session(s), 
  • You will be asked to fill in a dedicated space with a brief explanation of what motivates you to participate and what you expect from this experience, make sure to show your excitement and raise your expectations!
