Do you have a knack for research and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment? Library Aid Africa is seeking a dedicated and motivated Research Intern to join our team and support our work in Rwanda.

About Library Aid Africa:

Library Aid Africa harnesses digital technology and citizen engagement approaches to realize the potential of libraries to deliver development.  Through our programmatic approach, Technology Innovation for Libraries, Innovation Co-Creation and Community Engagement, and Library Advocacy, Policy, and Research, we support the strategic improvement of libraries across African countries, working collaboratively with in-country library partners, library institutions, library associations, library NGO and non-profit organizations.

Position Overview:

Library Aid Africa is in search of a dedicated and enthusiastic recent graduate to join our team as a Research Intern in Kigali, Rwanda. This position offers an incredible opportunity to contribute to our mission of leveraging digital technology and citizen engagement to unlock the potential of libraries in driving development across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Research: Engage in comprehensive research initiatives focused on advancing libraries’ role in development, exploring innovative approaches, and identifying best practices.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze collected data to derive insights that can inform strategic improvements and programmatic decisions.
  • Policy Support: Assist in developing advocacy strategies and contributing to policy recommendations based on research findings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with in-country library partners, institutions, associations, NGOs, and non-profit organizations to gather insights and share research outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate from a university in Rwanda with a degree in a relevant field
  • Strong research skills, including proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Passion for advancing libraries as crucial centers for community development and an interest in leveraging technology for this purpose.
