Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) HR Internship

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority that facilitates skills development under the Department of Higher Education Science and Innovation and supports mine health and safety under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy for the mining and minerals sector under Skills Development Act 97 of 1998 and Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996, respectively.

The MQA would like to invite qualifying individuals to apply for an internship opportunity within its Human Resource Unit. Unemployed individuals who have never participated in an internship programme are invited to apply. This opportunity is only available for South African citizens.

The successful intern will be appointed for a period of twenty-four (24) months.

The successful incumbent will be exposed to the following Key Performance Areas within the HR Unit: 

  • Recruitment and selection
  • Training and Development
  • Performance management
  • Labour/Employee Relations
  • Human Resources Information Systems
  • Payroll
  • General administration
  • Employee wellness

Skills required

  • Good communication both written and verbal
  • Sound interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Resilience and agility

Minimum requirements

  • National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Human Resources Management at NQF Level 6
  • Tech/Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 7 will be an added advantage.

Advantage

  • Knowledge of the mining and minerals sector will be advantageous.
