The bursary programme provides qualifying external youth candidates an opportunity to focus on their studies without the need to worry about the financial burden of university learning. Purpose of the Bursary

Are you a young, bright South African citizen with a passion for numbers? Are you already in university studying towards a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science?

Then look no further. Under the Momentum Metropolitan Actuarial Science Bursary Programme, not only will you receive comprehensive financial assistance, but you will also have access to study support from our actuarial community.  As a recipient of our Actuarial Science Bursary Programme, you will recieve the following:

  • Annual regisitration costs
  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation and meals in residence
  • Prescribed text book allowance
  • Travel allowance (for return flights if studying outside of your hometown)
  • Pocket money allowance
  • Academic and social support (mentor support and/ or vacation work opportunity

Bursary Requirements

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be enrolled in any of the following qualifications at an accredited South African university:
    • BSc Actuarial Science
    • BBus Science Actuarial Science
    • BCom Actuarial Science
    • BSc Actuarial and Financial Mathematics
  • Successful completion of first-year actuarial studies
  • A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 70% or higher (and maintained in previous years of study)
  • Not be a recipient of any other bursary funding for the 2024 academic year

Terms and Conditions of the Bursary

As a recipient of the Actuarial Science Bursary Programme, you will be required to achieve the following:

  • Complete the qualification in the time allocated by the University as per agreed timelines at the time the bursary was allocated;
  • Pass all subjects in any given academic year
  • Meet the course entry requirements for the next academic year of the Actuarial degree
  • Provide Momentum Metropolitan with copies of academic results/records in July and December of every year
  • Provide Momentum Metropolitan with copies of the tuition costs, accommodation and meal fees/expenses as well as proof of any other Bursary related expenses. 
  • Graduate with a minimum of 4 Exemptions by the end of the Actuarial degree
  • Be committed to contribute positively to the Actuarial Profession and to join Momentum Metropolitan upon graduation.
