To provide specialist input into environment management challenges and to support business to improve management practices.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
- Provide specialist input into obtaining and retaining relevant environmental licenses / authorizations.
- Provide specialist input into identifying environmental risk specific to the portfolio.
- Continuously improve on services. Identify improvement opportunities and implement improvement solutions.
- Demonstrate One Sasol way behaviour ensure area under control is managed to the benefit to the larger Sasol value chain.
- Manage multilevel interfaces and integrate effectively. Interact with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the 1S SHE EA and provide specialist input into portfolio specific environmental plans.
- Sustain own high performance and seek opportunities for personal growth monitored through structured performance contract and development plan.
- Ensure that vision, values and business direction are embraced.
- Communicate and execute change and improvement effectively.
- Establish and sustain effective relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain transparent relationships with the community.
- Participate as member of Environmental forums, natural working teams and other groups.
- Ensure compliance to portfolio specific legal requirements (license to operate)
- Assess portfolio specific legal compliance status of all permits, licenses and authorizations and facilitate implementation of corrective actions/recommendations.
- Translate/identify environmental legislation applicable to the specific portfolio and assist with implementation of relevant controls.
- Ensure that portfolio specific activities are being conducted in accordance with the 1S SHE EA.
- Act within the SHE governance and compliance framework as set by Sasol Group.
- Act upon findings from audits and assessments and take proactive measures to ensure SHE maturity and compliance.
- Report the business SHE results to the relevant reporting and governance structures.
- Prevention and addressing of environmental contamination due to Sasol operations and associated activities.
- Environmental protection is considered during plant design.
- Ensure that facilities are diligently operated within design and legal compliance limits.
- Incorporate the knowledge and experience gained into existing systems.
- Provide consultation to individuals and project teams on matters in his/her area of expertise.
- Share expert knowledge in own team and at all other levels e.g. COP’s.
- Use experience to mentor and coach, especially in the field of expertise.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of SHE reporting
- Ensure regular due diligence is conducted on calculation tools to ensure relevance and accuracy
- Support operations teams to drive the completion of the RCAs and ensure preventative and corrective actions pertaining to SHE requirements are implemented
- Understand and interrogate the different sampling techniques that are applicable to the specific business unit compliance sampling requirements
- Develop and understand environmental OSWAs and levers for operational improvement on SHE aspects
- Basic project management competencies to ensure execution of small projects
- Interaction with internal support functions like commercial and IM for project support
- Development of level 1 opportunity definition for departmental small projects
- Provide input into legal documents and draft regulations
Formal Education
- University Bachelor’s Degree (BSc Chem Eng)
