Senior Business Developer: Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd.

Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd is the commercial hub that manages and implements business activities of the University of Pretoria (UP). Wholly owned by the University, the company manages and executes the commercial research and training activities of the University.

The Training Solutions division has a vacant position of a Senior Business Developer whose key outputs include business intelligence generation, the conceptualization of solutions and services, new business generation, business administration, and reporting.

Education and qualifications:

  • • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • • Relevant three‐year tertiary qualification (Commercial, business or sales‐related).
  • • An MBA will be an added advantage.
  • • A valid driver’s license.
  • • South African citizen

Knowledge and experience:

  • • 5 ‐ 7 years’ experience in business development and marketing.
    • 5 ‐ 7 years’ experience in a training environment.
    • 5 ‐ 7 years’ experience in project, financial and contract management.
    • 5 ‐ 7 years’ experience in proposals, tenders, quotations and report writing.
    • 5 ‐ 7 years’ experience in business generation.
    • Customer centricity.
    • Proficiency in English.
    • Market knowledge.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Time management and planning skills.
    • Ability to establish, manage and grow a business portfolio through research, advisory and
  •   consulting opportunities.
    • Ability to develop business intelligence and to transform that into sound solutions and services.
    • Strong conceptualisation ability.
    • Ability to market solutions and services to a diverse client base, including the public and private
  •   sectors, locally and internationally.
    • Ability to unlock funders and funding opportunities.
    • Ability to operate in a high pressure, target‐driven environment.
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and CRM software.
    • Ability to build rapport.
    • High energy levels and resilience.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • • Business intelligence generation.
    • Conceptualisation of solutions and services.
    • New business generation.
    • Business administration and reporting.
  • Executed through:
  • • Development of a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
    • Conducting research to identify new markets and customer needs.
    • Arranging business meetings with prospective clients.
    • Promoting the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives.
    • Preparing contracts ensuring adherence to governance principles.
    • Monitoring sales, revenue, invoices, debtors, etc.
    • Providing reliable feedback and ongoing support.
    • Building long‐term relationships with new and existing customers.
