Shoprite Group’s bursary programme

Applications for the Shoprite Group’s bursary programme are now open for the 2022 and 2023 academic years. These bursaries offer students in the fields of accounting, food sciences and information technology an opportunity to further their studies – and then go on to work for Africa’s largest retailer.  

The Shoprite Group offers comprehensive bursaries to support students studying or intending to study scarce skills such as food science, pharmacy, chartered accounting, logistics as well as information technology and retail business management.

Shoprite’s bursaries provide financial assistance towards tuition and on-campus accommodation, and are also linked to work-back agreements – ensuring job opportunities upon graduation.

Shoprite will select students to receive the following bursaries:

Bursary: Accounting (CA Stream – SAICA)

The Shoprite Bursary aims at attracting and funding talented Chartered Accounting students to become part of our Finance team after completion of their studies. When joining our Accounting Articles Programme, you will get exposure to the entire Group of Companies working with a wide range of stakeholder.

Food Science Bursaries

The Bursary aims at attracting and funding talented students in the Culinary/Hospitality field to become part of our Fresh Foods team after completion of their studies. As a Graduate, you will be joining the largest distributor of grocery products in Africa.

Information Technology Bursaries

(i) Information Technology/Systems – The Bursary aims at attracting and funding talented Information technology/Systems students to join Shoprite Group. Shoprite has successfully started its very own SAP Academy, producing top-level specialists in the field of System Analysis. Successful applicants will join the pipeline for the academy.

(ii) Information Technology/Systems – Shoprite has successfully started its very own Data Science Academy, producing top-level specialists in the field of data science. Successful applicants will join the pipeline for the academy. With a plan to keep this academy growing in the years to come, Shoprite is now looking for university students who have a passion for data and would like to make the data academy their starting point in an exciting career.
