SALARY: R 424 104.00 per annum (Salary Level 9)
CENTRE: Construction South (Namakwa and Ncora/Qamata)

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be in possession of valid Trade Test certificate in Carpentry or Building issued by an accredited institution. Must have four (4) years post qualification experience in a construction, building and maintenance. Experience and ability to give guidance in the following tasks will be an advantage – concrete, earthworks, shuttering, steel fixing, tunnelling, canal construction, blasting, building. Supervisory skills and must apply strict discipline to the workforce. General administration skills. Excellent communication skills, work under pressure, work in a team, must be willing to work irregular hours. Must be in possession of a valid South African code B driver’s licence.

DUTIES: The incumbent will perform and/or supervise technical design, production of carpentry structures, steel fixing and concrete and canal construction. Supervision, co-ordination and communication with teams, scheduling of works and planning of resources. Supervise artisan and general labourers working at housing and maintenance section. Perform administrative and related functions. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Provide leadership and solve problems where necessary. Must be able to execute instructions from Supervisor and support site management.
