ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS AT UNIVERSITY COLLEGE BIRMINGHAM IN UK , 2021

The University College Birmingham is offering up to 6 Excellence Scholarships in the United Kingdom. The grant is open for the session 2021/2022.

The motive of this financial aid is to encourage foreign applicants to undertake an undergraduate degree program at University College Birmingham under an Excellence Scholarship.

About University College Birmingham

With more than 7,500 students, University College Birmingham today is unrecognisable from the small Victorian classes where it all started.

Today, hospitality managers, aviation executives, dazzling hairdressers and makeup artists, educators, chefs, bakers, tourism industry experts, business leaders and creative entrepreneurs learn skills for life at a university hailed for its vocational training, academic achievements and cultural diversity.

We have invested £130 million in our campuses and facilities, including building McIntyre House and Moss House, since 2014. These ambitious projects represent a bold statement of intent beyond the dreams of Birmingham’s early educational pioneers. Michael became Vice-Chancellor and Principal on 1 August 2019, having previously served for eleven years at the University as Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

University College Birmingham was founded in 1957 and received its full university status in 2012 along with Newman University. It is a university in Birmingham, England.

There is, however, a common theme. Then, as now, cookery was of the moment; and students and employers in the 21st century owe a debt of gratitude to municipal reformers such as Joseph Chamberlain who backed the cause of cookery at UCB’s forebear, Birmingham Municipal Technical School, in the 19th century.

A report in the Birmingham Daily Post of November 7, 1874 recalls a meeting of the Birmingham School Board, presided over by the then chairman, one J Chamberlain. The Board was told that the Education and School Management Committee had considered the “advisability of introducing instruction in practical cookery and household work as part of the ordinary school course.”

Why study at University College Birmingham? The university offers both vocational and academic education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It specializes in the areas of hospitality, culinary arts, events management, sports medicine, and many others.

Excellence Scholarship selection Criteria:

These scholarships are open to applicants from any country. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in academic achievement.

Degrees accredited by the University of Birmingham, industry-led college courses and innovative apprenticeships that offer you the chance to earn while you learn. An expanding campus with outstanding facilities to develop your industry skills, unrivalled placement opportunities and award-winning teaching staff. Just a few reasons why we are so popular with students looking for exciting, vocational courses designed to get their careers off to a flying start.

Applicants must have accepted an offer of a place on a full-time taught programme at University College Birmingham and the chosen programme should be of at least one year’s duration and normally lead to an academic award at Higher Education level. Applicants must not previously have been enrolled on the programme concerned, previously been enrolled on a FdA programme at the University in the same subject area (if entering the final year of a first degree programme) or have previously received a scholarship from the University.

The award of an Academic Excellence Scholarship is subject to any necessary visa clearance by the UK immigration authorities. An offer of an Academic Excellence Scholarship will be made to successful applicants and this offer may be used where necessary as evidence to the UK authorities of certain costs being met. However if a visa is not permitted the Scholarship will be withdrawn and there is no automatic reconsideration at any future point.

Applications Procedure

Applicants must complete the standard application form. Ensure that the category of scholarship/fee waiver applied for is clearly noted and provide full documentary evidence of academic excellence with the application. Evidence of Academic Excellence may include outstanding achievements in study (substantially in excess of that normally expected of students), support for an institution (for example through outstanding levels of commitment to supporting or working with fellow students) or the completion of a highly regarded research activity.
