WHY EVEN SMART PEOPLE GET BAD RESULTS?

So you think you are smart? Albert Einstein said ” There are only a few enlightened people with a lucid mind and good taste within a century.”
The following are excerpts text I got while reading an amazing Berkshire Hathaway newsletter ”Outstanding Investor Digest”
In this newsletter Warren Buffet says’ ‘It is ego. It is greed. It is envy. It is a mindless imitation of other people. And I would say if I and Charlie Munger have any advantage, it is not because we are so smart. We do not do anything that we do not understand ourselves.”
While Charlie Munger says” It is remarkable how much long-term advantage people like us have gotten by trying to be consistently not stupid instead of trying to be very intelligent. There must be wisdom in the folk saying: ‘It is so-called strong swimmers who drown.’ ”
In my opinion: Thinking that you are smart brings overconfidence. And overconfidence can cause unreal expectations and make us more vulnerable for disappointment.
PS: I am not saying that you do not have to be confident. My point is overconfidence.
