HOW TECHNOLOGY CAN HELP DRIVE A CORPORATE CULTURE

Corporate culture is often referred to as the beliefs and behaviours that determine how a company’s employees and management interact and handle outside business transactions. Corporate Culture is implied and varies from organisation to organisation. It is how employees normally do their work and duties on a daily business. The recent outbreak of Covid-19 has forced many organisations to go digital in their line of work. Digital technologies serve as an important enabler in facilitating a culture of transparency and can help drive a successful corporate culture in the following ways:

1.   Employee recognition and acknowledgement

Modern employees succeed in appreciation and seek purpose and value in what they do for a living. Recognition helps them find purpose in their daily tasks. Through technology and with performance recognition solutions in place, the rewarding culture can now be made faster and smarter. Acknowledgement programs quickly and effectively demonstrate the employer`s commitment to creating a positive company culture.

2.   Develop a well-outlined career path

Clear career trajectories are integral to better employee performance. Several companies have recruiting, performance management, goal-setting, and leadership tools in place that identifies employee potential and provides them with well-defined career milestones. Offering transparency into new positions and empowering employees to pursue them can establish an opportunity culture at your organisation. Furthermore, they also foster a culture of fair play, equal opportunity, and vigorous productivity, without bias or favouritism.

 3.   Encourages flexibility

Technology enables employees to be more flexible which can bring about many benefits to both the employee and the organisation. When allowed to be flexible, employees become more loyal, productive and present. Gone are the days when the only way to get a job done was behind a physical desk. Cloud-based Software as Service solutions offers a great way for organizations to embrace remote work and actively build a culture of collaboration. Whether employees choose to work from home or have flexible in-office hours, this mobility provides workers with more control over where and when they do their jobs—resulting in a healthier work-life balance.

 4.   Improves training, learning and development

Many companies are investing in virtual training programs to provide workforces with and network of tools, knowledge, and back to demonstrate their obligation to positive work culture. Millennial employees are eager for change, growth, and development. Sophisticated training programs and learning and development modules are critical for their sustained engagement and retention. Any training program must, therefore, use a variety of tools and technologies, to create learning programs that are interactive and vibrant.

 5.   Frequent and Effective Communication

The development of online chat programs and project management tools has reinvented the way organisations communicate and collaborate. All strategic initiatives rely on clear communication plans channels to share the company vision, gather feedback, and engage with employees. The days of long email threads and hours of in-office meetings are in the past. Tools such as Slack, Live and Workplace by Facebook, make it easy to deliver personalized communication at scale.
