Sales Engineer, Commercial Building Services at Grundfos South Africa (Grundfos is one of the world’s leading water technology companies)

What is the job about?  

Most of your time will be with customers and the more specific area will be defined when you start. However, you will be part of the Grundfos team in Johannesburg having a lot of flexibility to be working from home. In summary, your day-to-day tasks will be to:  

  • Build positive relations with existing customers and develop new business opportunities 
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and trainings explaining products, solutions or services to customers and potential customers 
  • Develop and realize a strategic action plan on how to develop your most important clients 
  • Ensure a comprehensive and diverse project portfolio and pipeline 
  • Clarify, prepare, and follow up on quotations according to guidelines 
  • Handle professional support via phone and e-mail daily 
  • Register activities and documentation in CRM 
  • Collaborate internally as well as externally securing that clients are served timely and by the right people according to their requests 
  • Offer support to other departments in other internal departments  
  • Participate in relevant fairs and events  

What do you need to apply? 

You are attentive towards the digital agenda and enjoy developing business opportunities while acknowledging customers different interests and needs. You have a good insight into different HVAC applications – not necessarily within pumps specifically but we do however consider this to be advantageous. Most importantly, you enjoy spending time with customers and communicate as a trusted advisor. You apply your interpersonal skills to understand and respond to different stakeholder’s agenda in a professional manner.   

Overall, Grundfos expect candidates to have:  

  • A technical educational background at bachelor’s level within engineering or commensurate 
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working with technical sales in South Africa 
  • We consider it a great advantage if you are experienced in SAP and CRM 
  • To succeed in the role, we expect candidates to possess strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build long-lasting professional relations 
  • You are used to travel and consider it a privilege to be able to spend a lot of your time out in the field with your business relations 
  • You are ambitious, engaged, and accountable, endlessly eager towards promoting products and solutions serving the agenda of solving the world’s water and energy challenges through innovation and collaboration 
  • You are fluent in your own language (verbal and written) and have the competence to speak in English as this is our corporate language
