x3 INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT THE UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (UNDP) IN SOUTH AFRICA

Post 1: Programme Officer Intern

Working closely with the Policy Specialists, the intern will contribute towards the following: -Assist the Policy specialists with day-to-day implementation of the IGI regional programme activities including support to partners, organization of events and meetings and preparation of reports. Assist in research and monitoring of LGBTI inclusion and rights issues in IGI’s priority and additional focus countries in Africa. Assist with updates of tools, collection and reporting of relevant data and information for measuring success of the programme. Assist in identifying key stakeholders for potential engagement with IGI including, parliamentarians, senior civil servants, key development NGOs in the region focused on the SDGs, religious leaders and other decision-makers and influencer. Draft communication articles on events and activities implemented by IGI for dissemination on UNDP websites and social media platforms. Facilitate knowledge building, usage and dissemination of products generated and published by the HHD regional team, its partners and other relevant institutions in the continent including supporting the translation and review of some knowledge products. Provide support to any other activities related to We Belong Africa Initiative (WBA).

Post 2: Communications Officer Intern

Working closely with the WBA communication team, the intern will lead in the planning and launch of a full-scale social media platform that promotes the work of WBA, aimed at increasing visibility of results, and dissemination of evidence-based knowledge products produced by We Belong Africa Initiative (WBA). To ideate, produce and oversee the social media account, as well as design and produce high-impact social media content in multiple formats (e.g., infographics, GIFs, video, etc. To coordinate, develop digital and social media analytics and evaluation, gauge reach, engagement and feedback on access and use of WBA products. Recommend strategies for increasing the profile of and access to WBA social media pages. Participate, where appropriate in We Belong Africa (WBA) regional meetings and create original text and video content aimed at promoting regional events, manage posts and respond to followers. Working closely with the WBA communication team, monitor current events and trending topics and spot strategic opportunities for meaningful engagement and increased visibility for WBA. Assist in identifying key stakeholders, and influencers for potential engagement with WBA including parliamentarians, senior civil servants, and key development NGOs in the region focused on the SDGs. Research relevant content and stories to post on WBA social media platforms, keep track of the key performance indicators (KPI’s) for each network. Support drafting press releases, op-eds, blogs, stories, and other text-based outreach materials, as well as provide copywriting and proofreading. Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the WBA contact list, including supportive journalists in the region and ensure continuous engagement. Provide support to any other activities related to WBA.

Post 3: SDG Financing and South-South Cooperation Intern

Support in the Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) agenda Provide research support in the public and private financing issues of African countries, including compilation, analysis and interpretation of financing flows and related policies. Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis on financing related issues in African countries and the development of relevant graphs and visuals. Support other/ad hoc activities as seen relevant and needed.

Support to innovative financing initiatives and South-South and Triangular cooperation Support the digital finance work in the region in partnership with UNCDF. Support the design of regional financing mechanisms for sustainable investment in Africa. Support organizing investment matchmaking events between African stakeholders and potential investors from the global South and developed economies. support other/ad hoc activities as seen relevant and needed.

Advocacy and promotion of SDGs Financing Agenda and the ASFH service offer Advocate and support the SDG Financing agenda through research, preparing presentations and by participating in relevant forums, conferences and trainings. Support monitoring progress and formulation of SDG Financing portfolio. Support management of events and consultation meetings related to SDG Financing and take meeting minutes. Support other/ad hoc activities as seen relevant and needed.
