Child and Youth Care Worker for the Sizanani Outreach Programme Nkandla

Position: Child and Youth Care Worker
Number of positions: 01

Purpose:

To render care and developmental life space work of a routine nature to children and youth in need of care within the Sizanani Child and Youth Care Centre.

Minimum requirements for the position:

Matric certificate
Qualification in child and youth care work
Be registered with SACSSP
Knowledge and possession of child-caring skills.
Minimum experience of at least two years as a child and youth care worker.

Principal responsibilities:

Receive children and youth to the care facility after admission.
Ensure that children/youth receive medical services.
Intervene and resolve conflicts in instances where children are engaging in a conflict, and take “reasonable steps” to ensure that the conflict is controlled/ does not get out of hand and no one gets harmed in the process.
Assist with the implementation of planned activities, developmental and therapeutic programmes.
Engage in basic life space work to promote the development and care of Children and youth.
Perform administrative work relevant to the job.
Provide a suitable adult role model.
Have an intense concern for the well-being of all the children and make sure that there is no child that will feel less or more important than the other.
Provide for the development and physical care of each child.
