“Background:

The AYMP programme focuses on empowering youth to promote safe, orderly, and dignified migration. It involves Migration Youth Ambassadors who will raise awareness, provide platforms for engagement, and contribute to the knowledge base on migration and human mobility in Africa. The programme emphasizes global and continental frameworks, policies, programs, and cross-sectional thematic interlinkages, with a focus on migration as an accelerator for regional integration and sustainable development.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Ambassadors:

  • Promote awareness and understanding of migration issues among African youth.
  • Provide platforms for youth participation and engagement in informing policy making.
  • Act as spokespersons, representing the voices of African youth through dialogue, advocacy, and representation.
  • Contribute to the knowledge base on migration and human mobility through innovative research, policy papers, and creative content.
  • Participate or speak in regional and global consultations.
  • Be recognized and listed as contributors to publications on youth and migration in Africa.

Selection and Eligibility Criteria:

  • Young people from Africa, aged between 18 and 35, with advocacy, research, or creative content development experience are invited to apply.
  • Demonstrate strong motivation and interest in African development and migration and human mobility issues.
  • Be a member of a vibrant youth organization and able to impact young people across communities.
  • Willing to commit to the duties of a Youth Ambassador for 12 months.
  • Fluent in any of the African Union’s working languages.
  • Selection is based on a competitive application process, considering experience, skills, and motivation to contribute to the programme’s objectives.
  • Ensuring gender balance and diversity in terms of geographic representation and areas of expertise.
