Knysna Rotary Bursary Programme for Undergraduate Tertiary Education
The Rotary Club of Knysna’s Bursary programme has been running since 1982 and has
supported students in tertiary education. It is the club’s largest single budget item financed by
funds raised locally during the Rotary Golf weekend and the former Knysna Rotary Cycle tour.
Contributions have been received from various international clubs and individuals known to
the club. Individual bursaries vary from R6 000 to R30 000 with focus on studies in:
- maternal and child health, basic education and literacy,
- economic and community development.
Qualifications being studied include:
- Engineering
- Teaching
- Nursing and caring
- Medicine
- Media and communication
- Business management
- Law
- Nature conservation
- Marketing
- Social work
- Journalism
- Architect drawing
- Accounting
- Ambulance training
