PROJECT ASSISTANT (STORES) POST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN: Centre for Higher Education Development
The Centre for Educational Assessments’ (CEA) mission as a department within the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED) is to provide educational testing that contributes to access and success at the University of Cape Town and in the broader higher education and training sector.
The main purpose of the Project Assistant position is to provide CEA with test logistics administrative support for a) the dispatch and receipting of test materials; b) general test administration processing; c) script batching and stock control; d) preparation of registration e) online sessions support f) to provide assistance to the logistics coordinator with all related test administration activities in delivering the National Benchmark Test (NBT) services to Higher Education Institutions and organizations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of NQF 4 (equivalent to Grade 12 or a Level 4 National Vocational Certificate) and least 2 years’ experience in an administrative and stock control environment. Or an NQF 3 (Grade 11 National (vocational) Certificates) with at least 5 years of recent and relevant work experience in stores in an administrative and stock control environment.
- Knowledge of stock control and ensuring stock levels are maintained and recorded accurately.
- Must have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, follow-up skills and the ability to prioritise in a constantly changing and pressured environment.
- Must be professional and have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- The incumbent must have good communication skills and a good command of spoken and written English.
- The incumbent must be assertive and work well in a team.
- Intermediate Level in Excel and Word is required.
- Given the manual handling requirements of the work, the incumbent should be physically able to handle and stack moderately heavy boxes. The successful candidate may be required to undergo a medical assessment.
- The incumbent will be required to work on-site.
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience of working in a Higher Education context
- Computer literate and ability to learn new software packages.
- Conversant in an African language.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining an accurate inventory and track scripts and admin materials on Excel
- Script batching: Receive and package new test materials.
- Pack test materials for dispatch
- Script dispatching
- Receive and check-in inventory testing material.
- Physical movement of stock
- Script processing: Scan answer sheets, edit scanned data and enter bio form information.
- Stock takes and stock reporting.
- General test administration
- Helpdesk duties and maintaining high professional standards including responding to NBT email and support required for online sessions.
- Assist with all logistics coordination as and when required.
- Assist with the monitoring, collation and documentation of feedback on project status.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is between R251 217 – R295 547.
