Requirements

An appropriate recognised 4 year post-matric qualification in education ? a post-graduate education qualification will be an added advantage ? At least 3 years’ working experience in an environment offering the NSC/CAPS and 3 years’ middle management experience in the education field ? current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) ? Experience in a TVET college or Adult Basic Education and Training will be an added advantage, as will experience in a private college or independent school ? The successful applicant must have proven understanding, knowledge and experience of: ? all pieces of legislation that inform Umalusi’s work as a Quality Council ? the uniqueness of private colleges and independent schools ? accreditation, monitoring and evaluation systems and processes ? good verbal and written English communication and report writing skills ? editing and quality assurance skills ? sound training and facilitation skills ? project management, coordination and strong administration skills. The successful applicant must: ? be dynamic, self-motivated and self-managing ? have the ability to work under pressure as an individual and in a team ? be willing to work extra hours and/or after hours and to travel when necessary ? have the ability to work within tight timelines ? hold a valid driver’s license and have their own vehicle and ? have extensive computer literacy skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook as a minimum).

Duties?

Implementation of a system intended to maintain and extend the evaluation, accreditation, and monitoring of private providers of education, including, but not limited to ? assisting with the implementation, maintenance and review of an accreditation and monitoring system for private providers of education and training ? supporting, maintaining and improving the functions of the Accreditation Committee of Council (ACC) ? quality assuring reports and related documents for accreditation, monitoring and evaluation of private education institutions ? develop and maintain documents and records as required in the accreditation process ? general administration in support of verification of accreditation applications, reports, and record keeping in the accreditation and coordination sub-unit ? promote quality across all functions of the sub-unit ? establish and maintain sound relations with relevant stakeholders ? performing any other tasks that are reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
