PURPOSE
To do maintenance and repairs on mechanical plant and equipment within process plant with full regard for the safety of employees in terms of OHSA, SANS and Johannesburg Water safety norms and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fill job cards, permits and logbooks on a daily basis. Adhere to OHASA, SANS and JW safety standards and procedures. Conduct risk assessment on and before each job starts and escalation to Operations Manager of high-risk situations. Inspect safety equipment and tools and report any defects to the Operations Manager. Supervise subordinates to achieve section’s goals and objectives. Repair, maintain and fitting of gearboxes. Repairing, installing of pumps, including ferric, chorine, lime and polly pumps, with full regard to the safety of employees. Reading, installation and assembly of rollers on belt press filtration machines. Install and alignment of belt press cloths. Repair and install of hydraulic equipment. Repair and install of valves. Repair and maintain pneumatic pipelines. Install and removal of motors, pumps, valves and pipe work. Unblocking of sludge pipelines on belt press machines, sewer pipelines and pumps within the boundary of the process plant. Repair, maintain and replacing screens, screw press. Alignment of pumps, motors, gearboxes, screw pumps, sprockets and pulleys. Maintain and repair of boilers, compressors and digester plant. Maintenance on mechanical equipment of the settling tanks. Repair and replace of steel, UPVC, and HDPE pipelines and sections.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Grade 10 OR N1(NQF 2)
• Trade Certificate (NQF4) Mechanical
• 2 years’ experience in maintenance, overhauling and repairs of mechanical equipment.
• License Code EB
