EXCAVATOR OPERATOR X 5 REF: IVP ENG-14 (3 Months contract))

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

Grade 12 Certificate of competence by an accredited service provider

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

2-3 years relevant work experience in the mining or construction industry.
Tailings experience will be an advantage.
Working knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulics systems
Working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures for working on mines and construction site requirement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

Compiling accurate shift reports.
Escalate abnormal operations problems to appropriate Engineer or manager.
Ensure that relevant SOP’s (Standard operating procedure ) for the specific machine is followed at all times.
Assist during breakdowns or emergencies.
Help engineering employees to maintain equipment in the winder area.
Ensuring safe and reliable workmanship.
General inspection of the machine before and after the shift and complete inspection checklist.
Interacting with other teams and systems.
Maintaining own safe and productive workplace.
Advising defects and abnormalities to appropriate Engineer or manager.
