Southern Farms Bursary Application 2024 for Young South Africans

South African Citizens with a valid ID number residing in the Republic of South Africa currently studying full time at a college or university and who have successfully completed their 1^st or 2^nd year of studying may apply for a bursary for their 2^nd or 3^rd year of studying at the college or university;

Students who have done vacation work for Southern Farms or any affiliated farm during at least the December holiday period;

Previously disadvantaged individuals which shall include black applicants, persons with disabilities;
Applicants with a financial need
Unemployed Youth (age group 19 – 25)

The bursary will cover the following costs to the sole discression of Southern Farm (Pty) Ltd:

Tuition Fees – will be paid directly to the institution in accordance with their payment regulations

Accommodation allowance – will be paid directly to the college/university if residing on hostel

It shall be the successful applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the Company is timeously informed of the due dates for payment of all monies and to furnish the Company with all invoices and documents related to the costs involved.

Successful applicants may be expected to remain in the employ of the Company for a period equal to the number of years of the awarded bursary (“work back period”). Such employment is subject to the normal selection criteria and procedures, salary and employment conditions of the Company.
Should the successful applicant’s employment be terminated for any reasons as stipulated in the Basic Terms and Conditions of the Temporary Service Contract, prior to full work back period being completed, the applicant agrees to repay the assistance that was provided equal to the period that is not completed under the work back period.

Successful applicants will be required to work during June and December holiday periods at the business address or such other farm or address at discression of the Company in the relevant year in which the bursary was awarded.

Having a bursary, “work back period” or temporary holiday work at the Company, does not guarantee a permanent position at the Company or any of the other farms.

The application form must be fully and correctly completed and signed by the applicant;

All documents requested on the application form must be submitted and failure to comply may result in the application being deemed incomplete;

Any false information supplied, will lead to immediate cancellation of a bursary;

Applicants will be expected to attend a quarterly progress meeting at the Company’s office in Stellenbosch;

PLEASE NOTE:

Meeting the criteria does not guarantee entitlement.
Bursaries are renewable annually, subject to proof of progress from college/university.
The successful candidate will need to sign a contract specifying the terms and conditions of the bursary.
