How to get Matric results online 


The 2022 Matric results will be out this week and it has already been announced by the IEB (Independent Examination Board) for private schools that the class of 2022 attained a 98.42% pass rate.

Umalusi for public and government schools will announce the release of its results before the end of this week.

According to a media briefing, Umalusi will announce the 2022 Matric results on Thursday 19 January. The results will be announced by the Minister of  Basic Education Angie Motshekga. 

Umalusi had initially requested to postpone the release of their results. The delay was attributed to examination cheating Scandals.

As results will be out this week, students are keen to know how they can access their results online without the hustle of buying a newspaper early in the morning to see if they have passed or not.

Candidates can check their results either by buying a newspaper, getting an sms, using a USSD Code, online, or eventually going to collect the results slip at school.

How to check results online

Department of Basic Education

Go to your browser of choice and type the web address of the Department of Basic Education (

After you have accessed the website you click on the quick link for the exam results bar. You will then be required to enter your examination number.

You might be required to provide more information before searching for the results. After that, you click on the search button and your Matric results will be out.

Getting results straight to your phone

1) Text your examination number to the number 35658. Once you’ve texted your examination number you won’t be required to provide any more information. Your results will be sent straight to your phone as soon as they are available.

USSD Code 

To get your results directly on your phone you can also use a USSD Code. Dial *120*35658# you will be asked to enter your personal information to complete the process. Once done you will receive Matric results directly on your mobile device.
