Position Reports to: Sen. Specialist: Tax Practitioners
Division: Design and Enabling
Location: Head-Office

About the Position

This exciting position is in the Government and Tax Practitioner Segment. We are looking for a Junior Data Analyst who will be able to work with the Tax Registers for Tax Practitioners and Government Institutions and extract compliance data for the population and inform the segment on matters pertaining to compliance behaviours, filing patterns, use of the SARS digital channels, complaints and queries and service challenges.

Job Purpose

To provide expertise, advice and support to develop operational implementation plans and/ generating or associated service delivery processes, by gathering analysing and evaluating data and reports to enable management to make effective and sound decisions, in order to continuously enhance service delivery.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree/ Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Data Science/Statistics/ Business and Financial Analytics AND 5-7 years’ experience in a data analysis and/ a research environment , of which 2-3 years must be at functional specialist level.

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 8-10 years in a data analysis and/or research environment of which 3-5 years must be at a functional specialist level.

Minimum Functional Requirements

Statistical analysis of data for strategic decision making in business and management.
Advance MS Excel with the ability to identify and handle data, to estimate and test data, and to interpret and present data.
Basic understanding of Income tax, VAT and PAYE.
Ability to effectively communicate and influence key stakeholders to support proposed strategies, process improvements and inform operational decisions.
Resourcefulness and ability to devise creative solutions to problems.
Experience in testing and mapping various business processes and protocols.
Familiarity with industry technology systems to gather dat.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.

Job Outputs:

Process

Apply processes to improve data validation across service delivery systems in line with operational targets.
Collect and collate data, analyse information, and provide reports and commendations.
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with peers, SARS role players and third parties to achieve predefined objectives.
Ensure the integrity and quality of all data collected and identify and escalate associated problems.
Identify and resolve queries and problems timeously
Accumulate information that provides input to reporting, decision making and the identification of improvement opportunities.
Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
Correctly apply policies, practices, standards, procedures and legislation in the delivery of work output.
Execute specialist input through investigation & opportunities within the product process including risk concern.
Plan for value -added process improvements, initiatives and services to deliver on operational strategy and objectives.
Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process product and risk optimisation.
Initiate process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as the results of the change
