UN VOLUNTEER POSITION AT UNDP-COMMUNITY OUTREACH ASSOCIATE

Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Community Outreach Coordinator, the national UNV will support the Community Outreach Coordinator with the following tasks:

  • Assist the community outreach coordinator in the development and implementation of comprehensive Community Safety outreach and Community strategic frameworks and implementation plans;
  • Assist in the organization of outreach activities in Kabul for targeted audience (especially women and youth) to enhance community participation and generate awareness amongst the public on security and related issues;
  • Encourage and facilitate active participation of women in outreach activities
  • Use M&E tools to track implementation progress in the field and propose initiatives for better implementation of outreach activities of COPS project
  • Assist in the development of training material and provide administrative support for organizing the outreach events;
  • Assist the community outreach coordinator to provide technical guidance and recommendations on implementation of community safety outreach and community sensitization and development activities within the AWP
  • Prepare outreach package for citizen awareness
  • Assist in preparing reports, promotional materials, case studies, and success stories under COPS project outreach activities.
  • Participate in relevant Working Groups to coordinate and collaborate to unify the supports for MoIA led Community police initiatives
  • Work closely with UNDP communication team in drafting and publishing success stories on UNDP website and social media
  • Liaise and work closely between UNDP and MOIA communication team for its effectiveness
  • Any other task assigned by the community outreach coordinator

Qualifications/RequirementsRequired degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalentEducation – Additional Comments:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Political Sciences, Public Administration, business administration or related fields, extra trainings in public information, and community outreach, communication, and education will be a distinct advantageRequired experience: 24 MonthsExperience remark:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in community outreach, communication, project implementation and communication
  • In-depth understanding of institutional, administrative, and other governance issues; (experience with field is an asset)
  • Proven qualities in teamwork and ability to work harmoniously with local partners: governments at various levels, civil society, communities, other stakeholders (references must be provided with application);
  • Familiar with the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Office incl. Word, Excel, etc).
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Familiarity with processes of UN agencies and/or IFIs an asset;
  • Work individually as well as part of a team towards common goals;
  • Fluency in English required
